Soil: Sandy, well-drained soils. Medium Loam, Sandy Loam, Sandy, Limestone-based. Not too rich.

Spreads via seeds

Host Plant: Caterpillars of the Columbine Duskywing and Columbine Borer Moth.

Pollinators:  hummingbirds, short-tongued Halictid bees, bumblebees                 

Other Information:   Woodland wildflower may go dormant in excessive heat. Foilage is toxic, so it is usually not eaten by rabbits or deer.
